Job summary

NurtureCare in Derby City & Derbyshire is seeking a Registered Nurse to support children with complex health needs in special schools during term time. You will deliver hands-on nursing care and work with school staff to ensure safe health procedures.

Ideal candidates have NMC registration (Child Branch or LD preferred), experience with CYP in educational settings, and are strong communicators who value inclusion and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• NMC Registered Nurse (Child Branch or LD preferred).
• Experience working with CYP in schools, community or paediatric settings.
• Confident in clinical practice and calm under pressure.
• A great communicator, team player, and advocate for inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on nursing care for children and young people with complex health needs (e.g. epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care).
• Support and supervise school staff in delivering delegated health procedures, using the TEACH competency framework.
• Build trusted relationships with pupils, families, and school teams.
• Contribute to the development and review of Individual Healthcare Plans (IHCPs).
• Escalate health or safeguarding concerns and participate in multi-agency planning.
