Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a 1-year fixed term post within theCongenital Cardiology Catheter Labs at Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Weare looking for registered nurses with relevant experience to join the teamin one of the UKs leading childrens cardiology centres. The jobholder willbecome part of a multi-professional team caring for children and adults withcomplex cardiac background who are undergoing a variety of elective, urgentand emergency procedures.

Previousexperience of surgical/cath lab/interventional radiology scrub is essential;however, a successful candidate will be supported in their new role throughspeciality specific training.

Main duties of the job

Thejob holder will work as a scrub nurse during a range of different proceduressupporting the Interventional Cardiologist. You will manage the day-to-dayflow of the elective list, adapting to changes as they arise, and maintainup-to-date knowledge of surgical equipment through ongoing training. Workingcollaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will providehigh-quality, person-centred care to every patient.

Thesuccessful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work autonomously andhave excellent communication and organisational skills. They must work withThe Leeds Way and Trust values at the centre of their care, for both patientsand colleagues. They must be able to demonstrate current and on-goingpersonal development and evidence of their contribution to changemanagement/service development within their current post.

Job responsibilities

Asan experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities withinthe cardiac catheter labs environment ensuring effective communication ismaintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staffwithin the department. He/she willplay a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

Thejobholder will play an essential role assisting Senior Sister/Team Leader inleading and teaching the cardiac catheter lab team. The jobholder will act asa role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing thecardiac catheter lab team and ensuring effective management of the departmentin the absence of the Team Leader.
