A leading NHS organization is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join their Haematology & Blood Transfusion team at Ipswich Hospital. East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join us in Haematology & Blood Transfusion at Ipswich Hospital.
You will join a friendly and busy MHRA and UKAS compliant hospital laboratory committed to staff training and development. We are an IBMS accredited training laboratory for registration and specialist portfolios.
Applicants must have completed their haematology specialist portfolio. Once competent, experienced staff will participate in the out-of-hours roster, which attracts a night rate enhancement for lone working.
Our laboratory is equipped with Grifols, Sysmex XNs, and ACL TOPS analysers. Our LIMS is Lab Centre. Knowledge of these technologies would be advantageous.

Our pathology department is part of the East Coast Pathology Network (see attached document).
You will have a varied range of responsibilities, including maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation, training and supervising less experienced staff, validating and authorising results, and providing a safe, quality service for our patients.
You will resolve complex equipment or process issues and perform manual, semi-automated, and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, within your service area.
Participation in stock control and usage management, including Blood Transfusion stock levels and records, is expected to ensure efficient use where appropriate.
