Job summary

Medica Group is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to lead the Pathology team at our Runcorn hub. You will deliver high-quality digital and glass telepathology services, oversee lab operations, and mentor staff in a fast-evolving environment.

The role requires HCPC registration, Specialist BMS portfolio, and expertise in Histology. You will drive quality, support AI projects, and work in a hybrid setup with ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is essential.
• Specialist BMS portfolio completed is essential.
• Experience in Histology and specimen selection is important.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab operations including specimen reception, scanning, and quality control.
• Lead and mentor a team of Digital Pathology Assistants.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards (15189, 27001, 9001).
• Troubleshoot lab issues and manage client queries.
• Contribute to AI integration and wet-lab expansion projects.

About the Role

As our Specilaist BMS, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering high-quality digital and glass telepathology services. You’ll manage a small but mighty team, drive operational excellence, and collaborate across departments to ensure we meet and exceed client expectations.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll:

• Oversee lab operations including specimen reception, scanning, and quality control.
• Lead and mentor a team of Digital Pathology Assistants.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards (15189, 27001, 9001).
• Troubleshoot lab issues and manage client queries.
• Contribute to exciting projects including AI integration and wet-lab expansion.
