Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion and Haematology to join our team at the UHCW site. To apply, you must be HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist, have completed an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology or equivalent, and have experience working as a band 5 in Blood Transfusion and Haematology in an NHS laboratory.

The successful candidate must be willing to manage a busy workload, be forward-thinking, and keen to develop new skills. Good communication skills, the ability to work successfully as part of a team, and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

Participation in the 24/7 shift rota is expected.

Responsibilities include:

• Validation of Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion results
• Issue of blood components
• Training staff
• Supervising sections of the department
• Performing specialist testing
• Quality management
