Job description

We are seeking a motivated Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with UK experience to join our Microbiology Department.

We are part of a modern laboratory within the newly formed Derbyshire Pathology joint venture for Derby and Chesterfield laboratories, both accredited to ISO 15189.

The department performs bacteriology, parasitology, serology, molecular testing, and operates an extended working day.

Key responsibilities include:

• Undertaking day-to-day sample processing and clinical investigations for Microbiology to the required standards of timeliness and quality.
• Supervising Band 5 Biomedical Scientists and MLAs within their work area.
• Engaging in staff training.
• Participating in on-call and weekend duties.
• Understanding ISO 15189 standards, Health & Safety requirements, audit, and training/education techniques.
• Utilizing transformation methodologies to improve service delivery (desirable).
