Salary: Competitive salary from £43,120 to £61,000 per annum depending on experience

We are seeking a Specialist Advisor in permitting to join the Permitting & Regulatory Support Team, a group of subject matter experts in regulation and monitoring of wastewater, air emissions, and waste management activities.

The team’s role is to ensure the company has all necessary Environmental Permits for statutory functions, provide technical permitting advice, and collaborate with the Environment Agency on permitting matters.

Working pattern: 36 hours a week. This is a hybrid role with a maximum of two days in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical projects related to AMP8, working with Capital Delivery and Engineering teams.
  • Manage critical permitting work programmes.
  • Advise engineering teams on regulatory requirements and facilitate business plan implementation.
  • Negotiate permits with the Environment Agency, including applications for Capital Schemes.
  • Support permitting activities across groundwater, process, network, and water permitting sectors.
  • Represent the team in meetings with Water Companies and the Environment Agency.
  • Help improve compliance with environmental permit conditions across the company.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experienced in Wastewater Environmental Permitting with strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Knowledge of wastewater and water treatment processes is beneficial.
  • Proficient in MS Office and SharePoint.
  • Subject matter expert in Water Discharge Activity Environmental Permitting.
  • Project management experience is desirable.
  • Understanding of Water Industry regulations, including Environmental Permitting Regulations.
  • Experience in negotiating permits with the Environment Agency.
  • Degree in a scientific or environmental discipline is desirable.
