Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 10-17 with a range of special educational needs in a rural school setting. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide one-to-one and small group support, helping learners engage academically and socially.

The role offers a supportive team, opportunities for professional development, and a learning environment focused on patience, compassion and adaptability to meet each pupil's needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in education, care, youth work, residential support, health, psychology or other people-focused roles.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming pupils and supporting a positive start to the school day.
  • Assisting with engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of curriculum subjects.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support.
  • Encouraging communication, independence and confidence.
  • Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions using agreed strategies.
  • Supervising break and lunchtime activities while promoting positive social interaction.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
  • Recording observations and contributing to pupil progress.
  • Helping to create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.
