Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with complex mental health needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist hospital school that provides high-quality education for pupils aged 11-19 undergoing psychiatric treatment as inpatients or day patients.

Teaching Assistant role:

  • As a Teaching Assistant, you will be a key member of our multidisciplinary team, supporting students' learning and wellbeing during their treatment.
  • You will work closely with teaching staff and healthcare professionals to create a nurturing, high-quality learning experience.

Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Supporting teachers in preparing classrooms and tidying at the end of sessions

  • Creating engaging displays of student work and themed materials

  • Providing in-class assistance to students with a wide range of needs

  • Offering one-to-one interventions (e.g. reading, numeracy support, educational games) as directed by teaching staff

  • Supporting students experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties

  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment

  • Liaising with hospital staff to ensure student wellbeing and appropriate support

What We Offer:

  • 100 per day pay rate

  • Small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios

  • A supportive team environment and access to multidisciplinary expertise

  • Ongoing professional development in areas such as mental health, SEND, and trauma-informed practice

  • A rewarding role where your contribution truly matters

  • Compassionate, calm, and resilient

  • Able to build trust and rapport with vulnerable young people

  • Adaptable and comfortable in a healthcare-education setting

  • Strong team players with excellent communication skills

Experience in special education, mental health, or hospital-based settings is desirable but not essential-we're looking for the right mindset and a willingness to learn.
