Job summary

Cover People are recruiting a Special Needs Teaching Assistant for a specialist secondary school in Salford. You will support pupils with Autism and complex needs, helping them access learning and develop essential skills in small groups and in class.

The role is full-time and long-term with potential to go permanent. You must hold an Enhanced DBS, be reliable, patient and resilient, and able to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting autism, complex needs or challenging behaviour.
• Calm, reliable and resilient with good communication.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs.
• Experience in a school setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism and complex needs.
• Help young people overcome barriers to learning.
• Build trust and develop positive relationships.
• Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
• Manage challenging situations calmly and consistently.
• Adapt quickly to changing needs and circumstances.
• Support learning individually, in small groups and across the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers and specialist support staff.
