Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant - September 2025 Start
Location: Northampton
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (Monday to Friday)
Start Date: September 2025

We are seeking a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated primary school. This is a full-time, term-time only position, working Monday to Friday.



About the Role:

You will support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, both within the classroom and during individual or small group sessions. You'll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help children access the curriculum and thrive socially and emotionally.



Children You May Support:

  • Pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

  • Pupils with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)

  • Pupils with mild to moderate learning difficulties or developmental delays



Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting (essential)

  • A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one (essential)

  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to adapt strategies to meet individual needs

  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting children
