Job summary

Ysgol Robert Owen in Newtown, Wales, is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 2 (Special) to support pupils aged 4–19 with Additional Learning Needs. You’ll work closely with teachers to enable engagement, learning and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.

This hands-on role offers training and development, with opportunities to build relationships, support with IDPs, ICT resources and practical activities across classrooms and outdoor settings.

Qualifications

• Experience with ALN, autism and complex needs is advantageous.
• Prior experience welcome but not essential; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Support class teachers with preparing resources and running activities
• Work in small groups, helping pupils to stay engaged and make progress
• Provide emotional and physical care in a nurturing and respectful way
• Encourage independence, confidence, and self-expression
• Use existing skills and experience to support pupils
• Build appropriate relationships with pupils to enable them to thrive
• Assist with the implementation of IDP’s
• Support the use of ICT and practical resources in learning activities
