Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is partnering with a specialist school in Preston to recruit Teaching Assistants who can support pupils with a range of SEND. You will work with teachers and therapists to support learning both in and out of the classroom.

The role involves one-to-one and small group support, delivery of personalised programmes, and promoting communication, independence and social development, while safeguarding pupils and maintaining a calm, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEND is desirable but not essential.

The school provides specialist education for pupils with a diverse range of additional needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils both in and out of the classroom.

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes.

  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Helping pupils access learning through adapted resources and activities.

The Pupils You Will Support
  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Pupils with sensory processing differences
  • Pupils with complex communication needs, including those who use visual supports or alternative communication methods
  • Pupils who may display behaviours that challenge as a form of communication

Every pupil has an individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and you'll receive support from experienced colleagues to help meet their unique needs.

  • Has experience working with children, young people or adults with SEND (desirable but not essential).
