Job summary

The Oaks Secondary School, Spennymoor, is seeking two Health Care & Education Assistants on a temporary contract until August 2027, with an extension subject to funding. The post is part‑time, 34 hours per week, 8:40–16:00, Monday to Friday, starting as soon as possible.

The role supports pupils aged 11–19 with moderate, severe or profound learning difficulties and/or autism, including personal care, toileting, feeding and dressing.

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent.
• Support pupils with special educational needs including physical disabilities.
• Ability to converse in English with pupils, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of special educational needs under supervision.
• Assist with general hygiene and personal care routines including toileting, feeding, dressing.
• Support safe positioning and movement of pupils with physical disabilities and contribute to classroom learning activities.
