Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location: Bristol

Introduction

Are you passionate about demonstrating the value of education and supporting children with Autism and Speech, Language & Communication needs? This specialist school in Bristol is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Assistant (SEN TA) to support children aged 4-17 with mild to moderate learning difficulties.

Role Overview

The SEN TA role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience, network with professionals, and develop your skills within a challenging yet rewarding environment. It serves as a stepping stone toward careers such as Play Therapist, Special Needs Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or roles in Child and Educational Psychology.

Challenges Faced by Children with SEN

Many children with special educational needs face marginalisation, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment, and stigma. As a SEN TA, you will play a vital role in providing consistency and equipping children with tools to feel safe, secure, empowered, and capable of succeeding in life.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging learning experiences
  2. Provide behaviour and pastoral support
  3. Build effective relationships with students
  4. Meet individual needs with a practical approach
  5. Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  6. Be caring, compassionate, and a good listener
  7. Work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  8. Ensure student safeguarding
  9. Attend staff meetings and complete CPD requirements
Additional Details
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Working hours: Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, term time only
  • Location: Bristol
  • Pay: £90-£100 per day
  • Employment type: PAYE
  • Requirements: Right to work in the UK; Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check
