Job summary

Milk Education are recruiting an experienced Subject Specialist Teacher for a specialist SEMH school in Bolton. You will deliver engaging lessons in your subject, support pupils with SEMH and SEND, and work within a structured, supportive environment.

The role requires QTS or equivalent, a specialist subject background, and experience in SEMH/SEND settings. The position is full-time, term-time only with CPD and consultant support throughout your placement.

Qualifications

  • Must hold QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Specialist subject background with SEMH/SEND experience.
  • Experience in SEMH, SEND or Alternative Provision settings.

Responsibilities

  • Weave engaging, differentiated lessons in your specialist subject for SEMH and SEND pupils.
  • Adapt teaching to meet EHCP outcomes and individual needs.
  • Create a structured, positive classroom environment to promote engagement.
  • Apply restorative approaches for behaviour management and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and leaders and monitor progress.
  • Contribute to reviews and reports with pupil progress data.

Are you an experienced and passionate teacher with a specialist subject background and a commitment to supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and SEND needs?

We are seeking a dedicated Subject Specialist Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Bolton. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people who require a tailored approach to learning, helping them overcome barriers to education while achieving their academic, social and emotional potential.

Whether your specialism is English, Maths, Science, Humanities, PE, Creative Arts or another secondary subject, you will deliver engaging lessons, build positive relationships and create a safe, structured learning environment where every pupil can succeed.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in your specialist subject to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and achievement.
  • Use effective behaviour management and restorative approaches to support emotional regulation.
  • Build positive, professional relationships that motivate pupils to achieve their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, Pastoral Teams, SENCOs, Therapists and Senior Leaders.
  • Monitor pupil progress, complete assessments and contribute to reviews and reports.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence and resilience both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Is a subject specialist with strong curriculum knowledge.
  • Has previous experience working within an SEMH, SEND or Alternative Provision setting.
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or other additional learning needs.
  • Can confidently manage behaviour using positive and restorative approaches.Builds strong relationships while maintaining high expectations and consistent boundaries.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education.
