A leading educational support organization is seeking a Special Education Needs Teacher to provide personalized tutoring in core subjects to vulnerable young people with Special Educational Needs. The role offers flexible part-time hours and includes extensive support from a dedicated team, aiming to enhance educational engagement and wellbeing for students with various learning needs. Experience working with SEND is essential, along with professional teaching qualifications.

Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Oxfordshire. Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support. We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as SEMH needs (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We support children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Oxfordshire.

At Targeted Provision our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists. This role is ideal for qualified SEN / SEND teachers who prefer 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner, to raise engagement and improve their educational journey.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role

• Provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
• These young people are referred by local authorities and schools and require support in their educational and social-emotional journey
• Deliver support via flexible and holistic trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring

SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities

• Plan each session of teaching / tutoring / mentoring
• Provide holistic and engaging sessions that meet needs and advance educational and social-emotional journey
• Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on progress

SEN / SEND Tutor requirements

• Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
• Minimum 2 years teaching experience
• Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or other Additional Educational Needs
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
• Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain at cost)
• Two professional references
• UK-based with right to work in the UK, even for remote/online assignments

It is a strict requirement to promote health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and to follow safeguarding policies at all times.

SEN / SEND Tutor employment status

• Engage with us as a Worker for short-term engagements as they arise
• Contract for service with PAYE payment
• No guaranteed hours or expenses coverage
• Our insurance covers the work you do
• This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
