Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Essex. Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support. We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), and other needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We support children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties). We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Essex. Targeted Provision’s mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK, with a team around the child supported by SEN / SEND Support Specialists. This role is suitable for qualified SEN / SEND teachers who are eager to work 1:1 with children and young people with a variety of learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner to raise engagement and improve educational outcomes.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role

Provide Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD/SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs referred to Targeted Provision
Young people are referred by local authorities and schools and may require support in educational and social-emotional development
Deliver flexible, holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring to support their needs

Tutor tasks and responsibilities

Plan each session of teaching, tutoring, and mentoring
Provide holistic and engaging sessions aligned with the young person’s needs and progress
Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on progress

Tutor requirements

Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
Minimum 2 years teaching experience
Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other Additional Educational Needs
Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes
Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain at cost if needed)
Two professional references
You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, including for remote/online assignments
Ability to work in a way that promotes health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people and follow safeguarding policies at all times

Employment status

This position involves engaging with us as a Worker for short-term engagements as they arise
You will work through a contract for service and will be paid via PAYE
We do not offer a set amount of work or expenses coverage

This is not a self-employed tutoring/teaching position
