Job Description

MERITUS is recruiting for a Spacecraft Production Operator to join our client on an initial 6-month contract to support exciting upcoming programmes. PLEASE NOTE: This role is shift-based, with the shift pattern outlined below.

PRODUCTION OPERATOR - INSIDE IR35 - £25 PER HOUR - 6 months (+LIKELY EXTENSIONS) - PORTSMOUTH - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

SHIFT PATTERN:

  • Early shift (hrs) / Late shift (hrs) / Night shift (hrs) when required
  • 4-on, 4-off 12-hour continuous shift pattern (hrs and hrs)

The Spacecraft Production Operator is responsible for the Assembly, Integration, and Test of Spacecraft Payloads and active antennas.

Responsibilities

  • Health and safety: Comply with production area health and safety requirements and practices, including handling of hazardous substances in accordance with COSHH requirements.
  • Mechanical integration of payload equipment, connectivity items (coaxial cables and waveguides), test instrumentation (thermocouples, heater circuits, accelerometers), DC harness (connector mating and de-mating), MLI (templating, tailoring, fitting), structural components (inserts, riv-nuts, panel repairs), and wiring activities.
  • Interpretation of technical documentation such as schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, 2D and 3D general assembly drawings, technical notes, and integration procedures.
  • Electrical testing, including automated test sequences using a Payload Test System, manual RF measurements of payload equipment and sub-systems, and electrical integration.
  • Performing tests to check payload equipment performance against parameters detailed in test procedures and reviewing results for non-conformances.
  • Maintain workspace standards, including 5S policy, process confirmation, and tool control.
  • Contribute to team performance activities, including Kaizen and SQCDP.
