Job summary

SSTL is seeking a Space Propulsion Engineer to contribute to current missions and upcoming gas, chemical and electric propulsion developments. The role blends hardware build and test with computer-based design, analysis, and simulation in a fast-moving environment.

You will work within a propulsion group delivering propulsion systems, interfacing with customers, and supporting spacecraft level testing and in-orbit commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• Several years of industry experience, ideally in space.
• Strong knowledge of propulsion systems incl. valves, regulators, actuators.
• Experience in writing reports and presenting to customers.

Responsibilities

• Scope and deliver propulsion projects and systems.
• Interface with customers for propulsion systems.
• Perform initial and detailed system analysis and design.
• Document design changes via Engineering Change Control.
• Assist with equipment specification and supplier selection.
• Write detailed assembly and test procedures.
• Assemble and test propulsion systems.
• Hands-on construction of system assemblies from components.
• Define test setups for pressure and electrical tests.
• Analyze test results and support spacecraft level testing and in-orbit commissioning.
