Job summary

Kellan Group is seeking a Sous Chef for Education Catering in Pontefract, delivering meals across school outlets during term-time. The role runs 37.5 hours per week (6am-2pm), Monday to Friday, over 39 teaching weeks, with free meals on shift and parking, plus gym access and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will lead shifts, supervise the team when the Head Chef is away, ensure allergen information is accurate and orders/stock are managed efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience at Sous Chef level, ideally in education catering or similar high-volume operation.
• IT literate with ability to use standard software and systems.
• Passionate about food and people, with leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Run shifts and guide the team in the Head Chef's absence, producing meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Organise and support the team to ensure smooth daily operation and efficient time use.
• Produce food according to recipes with knowledge of all menu items and allergen info.
• Manage production and stock levels, place orders, record wastage, receive deliveries and store correctly.
• Carry out daily/weekly deep cleans and ensure staff training on their sections.

My clientis currently looking for a talented,enthusiasticand experiencedSousChef to ensure the smooth running of all aspects ofin housefood ata large college in Pontefract, catering for over 2500 students across multiple outlets.

Job Responsibilities

• You will be running shifts and guiding your team when the Head Chef is not present, producingmeals for breakfast,lunchand dinner- soorganisationandthe ability to thrive under pressure isrequired!
• You will beorganisingand supporting your team to ensure a smooth operation daily,allocatingtasks so that your team and timearefullyutilised.
• You will be producing food in line with recipe sheets, and have full knowledge of all menu items served, including allergen information.
• Management of production and food levels to ensure minimal wastage.You will also be placing orders and keeping records of any stock wastage, alongside receivingdeliveries,and ensuring they are storedcorrectly.
• Carrying out deep cleans daily / weekly alongside your team, ensuring all staff are fully trainedontheir sectionsand haveundertakenany relevant training asrequired.

Key Requirements:

• Experienceoperatingat Sous Chef level, ideally in a similar environment or in a similar volume catering operation.

Salary and Benefits:

The starting salary for this role is £24,575p/a dependant on experience.
