Job summary

Harrier House Care Home, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to support the Chef Manager in delivering nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents. You will manage stock, maintain quality and supervise the kitchen when needed, ensuring compliance with HACCP and safety rules.

You will plan menus, cater for special events, monitor budgets, and work with the team to provide an exceptional dining experience in a supportive care environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Chef, ideally preparing meals for high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene, stock control and stock rotation.
• Experience supervising or supporting a kitchen team is desirable.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals that meet a range of dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
• Budget awareness with the ability to support effective stock and cost management.
• Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, proactive and passionate about delivering an exceptional dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, varied and well-balanced meals reflecting residents' preferences and dietary needs.
• Prepare and cook fresh meals, maintain stock levels and rotation, monitor food quality.
• Supervise kitchen team in absence of the Chef Manager, ensuring hygiene and safety.
• Assist with menu planning, catering for events, monitoring budgets.
• Maintain HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
