Job summary

Harrier House Care Home is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Chef Manager in delivering nutritious, varied meals for residents across our Nottinghamshire site.

You will prepare fresh meals, manage stock, and assist with menu planning and budget monitoring while maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety. Prior experience in high-volume catering is preferred and ongoing training and career progression are provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef, ideally preparing meals for high-volume catering environments.
• Good knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene, stock control and stock rotation.
• Experience supervising or supporting a kitchen team is desirable.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals that meet a range of dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Budget awareness with the ability to support effective stock and cost management.
• Excellent organisation, communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh meals, maintaining stock levels and rotation.
• Supervise the kitchen team in the absence of the Chef Manager and ensure safety and hygiene.
• Assist with menu planning, events and budget monitoring.
• Maintain equipment, report faults and ensure HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH compliance.
