Job summary

Bupa Richmond Villages Witney is seeking a Sous Chef on a Bank contract to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality meals across the village, restaurant, spa, and apartments.

You will cook to food hygiene standards, accommodate dietary needs, and help maintain a welcoming dining environment while keeping a calm, organised service during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Passionate about food and experienced in a professional kitchen, including dietary requirements.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures, with relevant qualifications.
• An innovative yet organised approach to cooking, remaining calm during busy service.
• Able to work well with others to deliver an excellent dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Cater to residents across the Village, including care home, serviced suites, and residents dining in the Restaurant/Spa or delivered to apartments or events.
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
• Be aware of residents' dietary needs and respond to menu requests.
• Assist in preparation and serving on the hotplate when required during service.
• Ensure food is used within the prescribed period, with attention to perishable goods.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe and compliant dining environment for residents.
• Help keep the working area clean and hygienic.

As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. This is a fantastic chance for someone ready to take the next step in their career, bringing creativity, leadership, and a passion for food to a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

You’ll help us make health happen by

• Catering to residents across the Village which comprises of the care home,catering for serviced suites, villagers who have booked a meal in the Restaurant/Spa or for meals to be taken across to their apartments or for other specific events
• Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations
• Be aware of residents, villagers and Wellness Spa clients' dietary needs - responding to their comments and requests in respect of the menu
• Be involved in the preparation and serving of the meals on the hotplate, as required
• Ensuring that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable (high risk) goods
• Ensuring a welcoming, safe and compliant environment for our residents to dine in
• Helping to maintain a clean and hygienic working area.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

Passionate about food, you’ll have experience working in a professional kitchen, ideally catering for customers with special dietary requirements. An understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally with an NVQ or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH Level 2 Food Safety Award or Equivalent.Open to new ideas, you’ll have an innovative yet organised approach to cooking, always adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service. You’ll enjoy working with others, working together to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal.
