Job summary

Baxter Storey UK in Wakefield seeks a hands-on Sous Chef to support the kitchen and uphold high operational standards in the staff canteen. The role is 37.5 hours per week, five days in seven, with no evening shifts.

You will lead menu development for staff dining, assist in meal preparation and presentation, manage stock, and mentor a motivated kitchen team to drive efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Hands-on leadership experience in a kitchen.
• Experience in staff canteen or high-volume production.
• Strong health and safety knowledge.
• Flexible and detail-oriented with good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure weekly staff dining menus are developed and improved regularly.
• Oversee and assist in the preparation and presentation of all meals for the staff canteen.
• Organise sections, stock and ingredients, including preparation and stock holding.
• Keep records of production volumes, waste, stock levels and food cost concerns.
• Create weekly staff dining menus and assist Head Chef with menu development.
• Manage and motivate the kitchen team.

The Sous Chef at this city based venue of will work hands on for the operational productivity of the kitchen department and its operational standards.

Hours: 37.5 hours contract

5 Days over 7

No Evenings

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure weekly staff dining menu are developed and improved upon on a regular basis.
• To oversee and assist in the preparation and presentation of all meals and service across the Staff Canteen..
• To organise sections stock and ingredients, both preparation and stock holding.
• Keep record of food production volumes, waste, stock holding and food cost concerns.
• To create weekly staff dining menus
• To assist the Head Chef with future menu creations.
• To manage and motivate the team.

Qualifications

• Formal culinary training
• At least 2 years within a similar role within production work
• Good foundation of Health and Safety and Food Safety Knowledge
• Great management skills with ability to motivate a team
• Flexibility of the role
• Highly developed attention to detail
