About the Role

Your focus as a Sous Chef will be to support the Head Chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, contributing to the overall well-being of residents within budget.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Preparing modified diets that are appealing, well-balanced, and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
  • Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, providing instruction and demonstrations on food preparation activities.
  • Understanding safe food handling principles to ensure hygiene standards are met.
  • Supporting culinary team members in understanding the Avery Food Safety Management System.
About You

To succeed, you must embody our values of caring, support, honesty, respect, and accountability.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a relevant catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, NVQ, or equivalent.
  • Have at least 1 year of catering experience.
  • Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services for residents.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to cover various responsibilities at short notice.

  • A DBS Disclosure check, with costs met by Avery Healthcare.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
