Job Description:

The Sous Chef will work alongside line chefs to ensure every dish meets our high standards. The role is a leadership position but still requires you to be hands-on — ideal for someone who loves cooking but also wants to develop leadership skills.

With a large kitchen team, you can focus on different aspects of the role: when on your section, concentrate on food quality and training; when on Pass, lead the team through excellent service.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring correct prep levels by our dedicated prep team.
  • Managing deliveries and stock by the Goods Receiver.
  • Checking that cleaning rotas are completed.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Training and mentoring kitchen staff to maintain consistency and excellence.
  • Assisting with performance management of kitchen personnel.
  • Supporting the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in fostering a positive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong culinary skills and a passion for quality and creativity.
  • Leadership abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working with a large kitchen team.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food safety practices, and culinary techniques.
  • Understanding of GP and stock control.
  • Ability to organise and oversee multiple checks simultaneously.
