Job summary

Butcombe Group in Somerset is seeking a passionate Sous Chef for The Langford Inn, a 17th-century country pub with rooms, near Mendip Hills. You will work closely with the Head Chef to maintain top standards in a busy kitchen and lead the team when the Head Chef is away, contributing to a positive, high-performing culture.

The role offers flexible working, strong training, and opportunities for career growth within a renowned hospitality group.

Qualifications

• Experience working in busy kitchen environments.
• Ability to lead in Head Chef's absence.
• Commitment to high standards of food quality and presentation.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside Head Chef to run the kitchen smoothly, efficiently and safely.
• Support with food preparation, service and day-to-day kitchen management.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation across every dish.
• Coach and mentor chefs within the team, sharing knowledge and building capability.
• Help manage stock, ordering and kitchen compliance.
• Taking the lead in the Head Chef's absence and supporting the development of the wider kitchen team.
• Playing a key role in creating a positive, collaborative and high-performing kitchen culture.
