Job summary

Bupa Richmond Village Letcombe Regis is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for residents in a luxury retirement setting.

You will lead with creativity and care, ensuring high standards, proper hygiene, and tasty meals across all shifts in a busy kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen, preferably catering for special dietary requirements.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and food safety certification.
• Open to new ideas with an organized, calm approach during busy services.
• Team player with ability to work with others to deliver dining excellence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
• Respond to residents' dietary needs and requests.
• Assist in preparation and serving on the hotplate as required.
• Manage perishable goods and ensure use-by compliance.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe dining environment for residents.

Job Title: Sous Chef

Location: Richmond Village Letcome, South Street, Letcombe Regis, OX12 9RG

Salary: £15.65 per hour & Starter Bonus of £1,000* Contract: Full Time 40hrs Shift: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week), working across 4 days (4 x 10-hour shifts). Shifts fall between 07:00 and 20:00 NO SPLIT SHIFTS & NO LATE NIGHTS This schedule provides an excellent work-life balance, giving you more time to focus on your personal commitments while developing your career in a rewarding and supportive environment.

Welcome Bonus: £1,000* Should you be successfully hired into this role, we are pleased to be able to offer you a one-off Starter Bonus of £1000 as a thank you for deciding to join Bupa Care Services. As Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting Head Chef in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. • Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations
• Be aware of residents, villagers and Wellness Spa clients' dietary needs - responding to their comments and requests in respect of the menu
• Be involved in the preparation and serving of the meals on the hotplate, as required
• Ensuring that all food is used within the prescribed period, with particular attention paid to perishable (high risk) goods
• Ensuring a welcoming, safe and compliant environment for our residents to dine in
• Helping to maintain a clean and hygienic working area

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• Passionate about food, you'll have experience working in a professional kitchen, ideally catering for customers with special dietary requirements.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally with an NVQ or equivalent City & Guilds and CIEH Level 2 Food Safety Award or Equivalent.
• Open to new ideas, you'll have an innovative yet organised approach to cooking, always adhering to high standards and remaining calm during a busy service.
• You'll enjoy working with others, working together to create and deliver an excellent dining experience at each meal.
