Job summary

Sous Chef role at Hamilton Park Racecourse, supplied by Sodexo Live!. The position supports the Head Chef, leading a busy kitchen team to deliver outstanding food across racedays, conferences and private events.

We value high standards, creativity and guest satisfaction, with opportunities to influence menus while ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in high-volume hospitality, events or banqueting kitchen.
  • Experience within stadia, racecourse, hotel or event catering operations (preferred).
  • A passion for fresh food, creativity and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication and team-working abilities.
  • Good knowledge of food safety and compliance standards.
  • Relevant culinary and food safety qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of exceptional food across racedays, hospitality suites, conferences, banquets and private events.
  • Assist the Head Chef in leading day-to-day kitchen operations within a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes to consistently high standards of taste and presentation.
  • Lead, motivate and support casual and permanent kitchen team members during service.
  • Ensure full compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety and company standards at all times.
  • Help create innovative seasonal menus and fresh event catering concepts.
  • Maintain strong organisation and efficiency during high-volume service periods.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues across culinary, front-of-house and venue teams.
  • Support stock control, food ordering and minimising waste to achieve cost targets.
  • Contribute to a positive kitchen culture focused on teamwork, creativity and guest satisfaction.

  • Hamilton Park Racecourse, Bothwell Road, Hamilton ML3 0DW: driving license/own car essential
  • £36,000pa + bonus and excellent benefits
  • 40hrs pw 5/7

Supporting the Head Chef, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of all kitchen operations across:

  • Raceday hospitality
  • Conferences & events

    You’ll help lead and inspire the kitchen team to consistently deliver outstanding food quality, exceptional presentation and memorable guest experiences across every service.

    What You Bring:
