We currently have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated Sonographers to join our friendly and well-supported general medical ultrasound team. You will be based at Whipps Cross University Hospital, with opportunities for cross-site working within Barts Health NHS Trust to enhance your experience and skills.
We welcome applications from both newly qualified Sonographers and experienced professionals seeking to develop further.
As part of our busy department, you will perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including: General Abdominal, Gynecological, Small Parts, Head and Neck, Musculoskeletal, Vascular, Neonatal Head, and Neonatal Hip ultrasound examinations. If you are trained in obstetric scanning and wish to maintain this skill, rotation opportunities within our obstetric departments are available.
Barts Health NHS Trust offers flexible working patterns, including full-time hours over a 4-day week, weekends, and part-time options.
A short-term local recruitment and retention premium of £5,000 RRP (pro-rata) applies to this post.
The post-holder will work within a multidisciplinary Imaging team, liaising with colleagues to ensure appropriate imaging, reporting, and patient management. Maintaining high professional and technical standards in ultrasound imaging is essential. The role involves adhering to established quality standards and ultrasound guidelines from BMUS, RCOG, RCR, and NICE.
The Sonographer will deliver ultrasound imaging, reporting, and patient management according to department protocols, liaising with Lead Nurses, Obstetricians, and Gynaecologists. In the absence of a Site Lead Sonographer, you will oversee daily workload and resource allocation. Promoting patient advocacy and effective communication with healthcare professionals and external agencies are key responsibilities.
