The Southampton Oxford Neonatal Transport (SONeT) service is provided jointly by UHS (University Hospital Southampton) and OUH (Oxford University Hospital) Neonatal Services. The Southampton SONeT hub is hosted within the UHS Neonatal service team, primarily covering the Wessex region of the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (ODN).

SONeT transport nurses work a combination of SONeT shifts and clinical shifts on UHS neonatal unit. Candidates they will work clinically on the neonatal unit (up to 6 months depending on experience) before commencing shifts on SONeT.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The SONeT service in Southampton operates one transport team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. On each shift there will be a dedicated transport nurse, ANNP or Registrar and Consultant. All transfer requests are carefully assessed to ensure the appropriate team configuration for each baby. You will develop your neonatal transport skills to carry out nurse-only transfers of some babies requiring special or high dependency care.
