Qualifications

• Senior infrastructure/3rd line experience required.
• Expert Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO and WDS knowledge.
• Strong Azure experience including Azure AD, VMs and cloud storage.
• VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation proficiency.
• Solid networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
• Experience with enterprise firewalls (Fortinet/Juniper/WatchGuard/Palo Alto).
• Backup/DR solutions (Veeam/Cove/Acronis).
• MSP/IT consultancy background advantageous.
• Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert 3rd line support across Windows Server, networking, virtualisation, cloud infra and security.
• Lead infrastructure projects: server migrations, Azure deployments, network upgrades.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as escalation point for complex issues.

Our client is a growing London-based Managed IT Services Provider (MSP), specialising in IT solutions and support for businesses within the creative sector. Supporting over 5,000 users across 100+ businesses, they provide managed IT services, cloud solutions, infrastructure support and technology consultancy.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced and technically strong Solutions Engineer to join their infrastructure engineering team.

About the Role

As a Solutions Engineer, you will take ownership of complex IT infrastructure environments, providing expert-level 3rd Line Support and delivering technical projects across a diverse portfolio of clients.

Working closely with the wider engineering team and clients, you will lead infrastructure migrations, cloud deployments, networking upgrades and security implementations, ensuring high standards of technical delivery and customer service.

You will also act as a senior technical escalation point, supporting and mentoring junior engineers while providing clients with expert technical advice and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level 3rd Line Support across Windows Server, networking, virtualisation, cloud infrastructure and security.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, providing troubleshooting and resolution.
• Lead end-to-end infrastructure projects including server migrations, Azure deployments, virtualisation implementations and network upgrades.
• Manage and maintain complex client infrastructure environments, ensuring reliability, performance and security.
• Configure, troubleshoot and maintain firewalls, VPNs, networking equipment and security solutions.
• Implement and manage backup solutions, disaster recovery processes and business continuity measures.
• Work closely with clients to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate IT solutions.
• Support cloud infrastructure management, including Microsoft Azure environments and associated services.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting professional development.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, system configurations and project records.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery and service performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve client infrastructure, security and overall IT efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong experience in a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, 3rd Line Support Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar technical role.
• Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Windows Deployment Services (WDS).
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure AD, Virtual Machines and cloud storage.
• Experience managing virtualised environments using VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Strong networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, VPNs and link aggregation.
• Experience configuring and managing firewalls such as Fortinet, Juniper, WatchGuard or Palo Alto.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions including Veeam, Cove or Acronis.
• Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions including Dell PowerVault, Synology, RAID configurations and storage pools.
• Experience with endpoint security platforms including Microsoft Defender and Sophos.
• Proven ability to manage and deliver complex infrastructure projects, including server migrations, cloud deployments and network upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with clients.
• Previous experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or IT consultancy environment.
• Experience supporting multiple client infrastructure environments.
• Exposure to infrastructure architecture, technical solution design and IT consultancy.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or acting as a technical escalation point.
• Understanding of cloud security, infrastructure best practices and compliance requirements.
• Experience delivering client‑facing infrastructure transformation or modernisation projects.
