Job summary

Searchability is seeking a Solution Architect for a large-scale application modernisation and cloud migration project in the public sector. The role requires ownership of solution design across modernisation efforts, working with delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure architecturally sound, scalable outcomes.

Based in Telford with 2 days per week onsite, you will lead technical decisions, governance, and transitions to live service, while supporting commercial proposals and relationships with

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect or in a similar senior technical architecture role.
• Strong experience in application modernisation and public cloud migration.
• Knowledge of public and private cloud platforms, architecture principles and best practices.
• Experience working with legacy technologies and modernising applications within contemporary technology ecosystems.
• Experience working with Agile development teams and delivery architectures throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Strong solution design, documentation and architecture governance capabilities.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development, documentation and governance of solution designs.
• Ensuring architectural best practice is followed throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Working closely with Agile development teams and delivery architects across all delivery phases.
• Making key technical decisions and resolving complex architectural challenges.
• Ensuring solutions and supporting artefacts comply with architecture governance processes.
• Acting as the technical lead and primary point of contact for senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting commercial proposals and solution development where required.
• Managing technical relationships with clients, vendors, third parties and wider delivery teams.
• Owning technical problem management and ensuring solutions meet agreed specifications.
• Supporting the safe transition of solutions into live service.

SOLUTION ARCHITECT – APPLICATION MODERNISATION & CLOUD MIGRATION

• Up to £650 per day via Umbrella
• 6-month contract
• Telford – 2 days per week onsite

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is delivering a large-scale application modernisation and cloud migration programme for a major public sector organisation. The programme will introduce modern technology stacks, improve service capabilities and reduce technical debt across a range of critical business applications.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Solution Architect to lead architectural design and technical decision-making across the full project lifecycle, helping deliver modern, scalable solutions from initial design through to live service.

THE SOLUTION ARCHITECT ROLE

As a Solution Architect, you'll take ownership of solution design across application modernisation projects, working closely with delivery teams, project managers and senior stakeholders to ensure solutions are architecturally sound and successfully implemented.

You'll provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design and development through to deployment and live service, ensuring solutions align with architectural governance standards and wider programme objectives.
