Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor at NQ-3 level or equivalent.
• Knowledge of public procurement law preferred.
• Experience in commercial dispute resolution and drafting is desirable.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our procurement litigation team advises clients on a wide range of contentious procurement matters, from the provision of advice around procurement risk management to conducting High Court litigation to trial. Our clients include major corporates (across a range of markets including IT, infrastructure, construction, transport, and energy), central government departments, local authorities, and NHS bodies. We act for both Claimants and Defendants, giving our lawyers the opportunity to develop a broad range of skills where no two days are the same.

We are a highly renowned team, described by Chambers 2026 as having "a formidable litigation arm dedicated to procurement challenges".

In addition to procurement disputes, the team advises on a range of commercial disputes for both private sector and public sector.

The role

You will be working as part of a national procurement litigation team consisting of 8 qualified lawyers who primarily work out of the Bristol and Leeds offices. You will also be working within our wider corporate, commercial and public law litigation team with the opportunity to be involved in more specialist areas including: judicial review, complex IT disputes, claims for injunctive relief, corporate litigation (including breach of warranty claims and shareholder disputes), contentious IP, defamation/harassment actions, breach of confidentiality claims, commercial contract disputes, and professional negligence.

What we are looking for from you

We are looking for a Solicitor (NQ-3) to join the team.

The successful applicant will possess the following skills key to the role:

• Some knowledge of (or keenness to learn) public procurement law including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023
• Some knowledge of (or keenness to learn) public law litigation
• Experience in commercial dispute resolution
• An aptitude for drafting and legal analysis
• A keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels
• An ability to build strong relationships with clients and intermediaries
• Strong communication skills with a professional approach to work
• Confidence in working directly with clients
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines
• A practical and commercial approach
• A genuine interest in business development

There are no requirements in relation to a particular number of days in the office. We prefer our teams to have a high degree of flexibility to determine where they will work from based on client and team needs.
