Job summary

Highland Council is seeking a Solicitor (Litigation and Advice) to join the HQ-based legal team on a hybrid basis. The post is permanent and full-time (35 hours per week).

Salary ranges between £51,506 and £56,329 per annum, with grading at the first point of the scale. The successful candidate will handle litigation and provide strategic legal advice to the Council, with flexibility to work outside standard hours when Court/ hearings require.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with unrestricted practising certificate (Law Society of Scotland).
• Second year trainee nearing end of traineeship with restricted practising certificate is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide the Council's litigation and advisory legal services.
• Attend court/hearings as required.
• Support the Legal Services team in advisory matters for the Council.

Requirements

Qualified Solicitor holding (or eligible to hold is exceptional circumstances) an unrestricted practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland, or a second year trainee nearing end of traineeship and holding a restricted practising certificate. Continual Professional Development will be up to date as required by the Law Society of Scotland.

The postholder must be prepared to work flexibly and outside normal hours if attendance at Court/Hearing requires it.
