Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking a Solicitor - Litigation to join our in-house legal team on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract, with potential to extend or go permanent for the right candidate. The role focuses on housing management and landlord and tenant disputes, including injunctions, possession, disrepair, and debt recovery.

Based at EC1M 5LA, the role involves advising, drafting pleadings and statements, and guiding external solicitors and counsel when required.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified solicitor or barrister with strong housing law and litigation skills.
• Excellent legal drafting ability and sound judgment.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters professionally.

Responsibilities

• Advising on housing litigation and contentious landlord and tenant matters.
• Drafting pleadings, witness statements, claim forms, defences, injunction applications, chronologies and trial bundles.
• Conducting advocacy where appropriate (excluding trials).
• Instructing and managing external solicitors and counsel when required.
• Delivering legal training and sharing legal updates with colleagues.
• Supporting and mentoring junior legal team members.
• Maintaining effective relationships with internal clients and external stakeholders.

Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Southern Housing who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Solicitor - Litigation this role will be based at: EC1M 5LA, 4 days per week in the office for 4 weeks, then 3 days until week 12, then 2 days

The right candidate will:

The role involves providing legal advice and conducting litigation on housing management and landlord and tenant disputes for Southern Housing and its group partners. The solicitor is responsible for managing a varied caseload, including anti-social behaviour injunctions, possession proceedings, tenancy fraud claims, access injunctions, housing disrepair claims, Environmental Protection Act prosecutions, Court of Protection applications and debt recovery matters.

Key responsibilities include:
