Qualifications

Solicitor - Court of Protection

Location: Leeds/Manchester/Hybrid

Fletchers Solicitors have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Court of Protection Team. We are looking for Solicitors with 3 years PQE up to Partner level.

Location: Hybrid working with some presence in our Northwest offices.

In this role, you will actively assist and lead the court of protection department, providing deputyship and trustee support to clients with personal injury or clinical negligence claims involving substantial compensation awards. Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own caseload of Deputyship and Trustee matters, supervise junior fee earners, and provide technical support.
  • Attend clients at their homes, hospitals, or care/nursing homes to discuss budgets and priorities.
  • Liaise with financial advisors on investments.
  • Prepare accurate accounts and forecasts for Deputyship cases, including budgets for sustainability.
  • Manage Deputyship and related applications to the Court of Protection.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members.
  • Conduct staff supervision, including meetings and appraisals.
  • Participate in team meetings and training.
  • Engage in business development activities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years PQE in Court of Protection property & affairs work, including setting up and managing PI trusts.
  • Experience with statutory wills, gifts, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with clients with disabilities and their families.
  • Professionalism, dedication, and client-focused approach.
  • Leadership skills to manage and grow a team.
  • Enthusiasm for team building and enhancing the team's profile.
  • Ability to train and develop others.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, forward-thinking, and compliant with procedures.
