DAC Beachcroft LLP is recruiting a Solicitor / CILEX Lawyer to join the Complex Injury team in Birmingham. You will work on catastrophic and high-value injury claims, supporting senior fee earners and Partners while developing case strategy and client relationships.

The role offers a clear pathway to progression within a national team recognized for handling severe injuries, including brain and spinal injuries, with opportunities for professional funding and flexible working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience in Personal Injury, EL/PL or Catastrophic and Complex Injury claims is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of case law and practice directions relevant to complex injury.
• Excellent negotiation and client liaison skills.
• Ability to work within a demanding, multi-disciplinary team.
• Comfortable handling high-value cases with strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior fee earners on complex and high-value cases.
• Help develop case strategy aligned to client and firm objectives.
• Ensure adherence to SLAs, KPIs and internal protocols.
• Support billing processes and timely collection of WIP and disbursements.
• Engage with clients to build rapport and represent the firm professionally.

We are delighted to be able to invite applications from qualified lawyers (both Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives) wanting to join our national Catastrophic and Complex Injury Team. Our industry leading team led by Liz Jones is made up of 30 partners and 81 lawyers spread across the United Kingdom. This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to develop both your skill set and careers alongside experts in this area.
Our National team whose clients are a mix of leading names in the insurance industry as well as household name corporates, provide effective claims solutions for cases of the utmost severity and complexity, be they traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, amputation or high value fatal accident claims, allowing our lawyers to build strategic partnerships. Whether the instruction is for pre-emptive advice/investigations or upon litigation our aim to provide a clear strategy from the outset.

What you will do?

• Assist senior fee earners on complex and higher value cases and Partners on multi-million-pound claims
• Devising a clear case strategy which is adhered to, ensuring cases are run smoothly and balance the commercial interests of both the Firm and the client
• Ensure work is carried out effectively to meet the needs of the clients, the commercial requirements of the firm and the quality standards to include:
  
  • Adherence to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols
  • Achievement of agreed financial targets
  • Prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements
  • Prompt and accurate provision of MI
  • Applying appropriate and current technical expertise and case law
  • Effectively managing risk and compliance issues within each case, ensuring any emerging problems are escalated promptly to your supervisor in the first instance
  • Engaging with clients where appropriate to maximise opportunities to meet and build rapport with clients, at all times acting as an ambassador of the firm
  • Contribute to Business Development and client relationship activity in support of the Client Relationship Partner where required
  • Maintaining and developing technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions and reading appropriate publications

Who you are

• Previous experience of working or assisting on either Personal Injury, EL/PL or Catastrophic and Complex Injury claims, or a keen interest in this area of law
• A high level of personal compliance with firm protocols and procedures
• Good legal knowledge relevant to their area of expertise
• An ability to adopt a commercial perspective to legal issues.
• Confident negotiation skills
• The ability to be team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team
• Excellent relationship and client handling skills. Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day to day activities
