Job summary

LA International is seeking a Senior Solaris Engineer for a 6-month contract. Location: Work from home / Telford.

You will deliver operating system support and maintenance for Solaris 10/11 on physical and virtual servers, and contribute to migration and transformation projects, including some out-of-hours work.

The role requires strong Solaris expertise, scripting skills, and knowledge across UNIX/Linux estates, networks, and cloud principles.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 and 11 operating systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain UNIX shell scripts.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates.
• Understanding of network technologies and components.
• Understanding of cloud computing principles in infrastructure management.

• Deliver operating system support and maintenance for Solaris servers (physical and virtual).
• Support Live, Development and Test environments and handle Change & Project work.
• Contribute to migration and transformation projects; some out-of-hours work may be required.

Solaris Engineer

Location: Work from home / Telford

Duration: 6 months initially

This senior-level role sits within a Solaris team responsible for the provision of Managed Service & Project activities.

The team provides support to the servers on the Live, Development & Test environments as well as performing all Change & Project work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operating system support and maintenance for Solaris 10 & 11 servers, both physical & virtual.

In addition there will be a considerable amount of migration / transformation Project work, some of which may be out of hours.

Key capabilities required for the role include:

• Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 & 11 operating systems
• Ability to develop and maintain high-quality UNIX shell scripts
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates
• Understanding of Network technologies & components
• Understanding of cloud computing principles, particularly in the context of infrastructure management and service delivery
