Job summary

LA International is seeking a Solaris Engineer for a 6-month contract in the UK. The role involves operating system support for Solaris 10/11 on physical and virtual servers, and substantial migration/transformation project work.

Expect out-of-hours work for some tasks alongside live, development, and test environment support. The successful candidate will have strong Solaris expertise, shell scripting abilities, and experience across UNIX/Linux estates, with knowledge of networking and cloud

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 & 11 operating systems.
• Ability to develop and maintain high-quality UNIX Shell Scripts.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates.
• Understanding of Network technologies & components.
• Understanding of cloud computing principles, particularly in the context of infrastructure management and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver operating system support and maintenance for Solaris 10 & 11 Servers, both physical & virtual.
• Support Live, Development & Test environments and handle Change & Project work.
• Perform migration/transformation Project work, some out of hours.
• Assist with further Solaris-related tasks as required.

Solaris Engineer

Location: Work from home/Telford

Duration: 6 months initially

This senior-level role sits within a Solaris team responsible for the provision of Managed Service & Project activities.

The team provides support to the Servers on the Live, Development & Test environments as well as performing all Change & Project work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operating system support and maintenance for Solaris 10 & 11 Servers, both physical & virtual.

In addition there will be a considerable amount of migration/transformation Project work, some of which may be out of hours.

Key capabilities required for the role

• Strong working knowledge of Solaris 10 & 11 operating systems
• Ability to develop and maintain high-quality UNIX Shell Scripts
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting across multi-platform UNIX/Linux estates
