Solar PV Designer/Installer or Solar PV Electrical Supervisor

Your New Company:

We are a well-established commercial electrical contractor with five main divisions: electrical, mechanical, renewables, fire and security, and temporary site services. JR Revell is MSC-certified in renewable energy and a fast-growing provider of solar PV installation and maintenance services across Essex and surrounding counties. As our renewables division grows, we seek an experienced PV Solar Designer/Installer to lead our team and deliver high-quality, future-ready solar solutions.

Your New Role:

We are looking for a qualified, experienced, energetic, knowledgeable, and hardworking fully qualified Electrician. This hands-on, leadership role involves managing projects from inquiry to completion, liaising with clients, designing PV systems according to industry standards, contributing to tenders, and leading installation and maintenance teams. Your input will directly impact the quality and success of our renewables operations.

Your Responsibilities:

Designer Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with clients to determine the most appropriate solar PV system for their needs
  • Conduct remote and on-site assessments to evaluate installation suitability
  • Design system layouts and positioning for optimal solar exposure and efficiency
  • Estimate self-consumption with and without battery storage
  • Design AC and DC wiring systems, including secondary batteries
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and best practices
  • Collaborate with project teams for successful project delivery
  • Oversee installation to match design specifications and safety standards
  • Install solar modules, mounting kits, inverters, batteries, and wiring
  • Perform system commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Complete documentation and educate clients on system operation and maintenance
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and repairs as needed

Skills:

  • Expertise in solar installation and electrical energy storage systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills for PV components
  • Proficiency with design and monitoring software
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical data
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of regulations and safety standards
  • Physical ability to handle demanding tasks and work at heights

What You Need to Succeed:

  • At least four years as a qualified electrician
  • Minimum of three years on Solar PV projects
  • Supervisory experience, NICEIC qualification preferred
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations
  • City and Guilds 18th Edition, 2391 Inspection and Testing
  • EAL L3 Award in Energy Storage Systems or BPEC Course
  • Knowledge of design tools like Open Solar Design or Easy MCS
  • Valid UK driving license and ECS gold card
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Positive, proactive attitude and professional appearance
  • Willingness to work nationally
