Searchability in Bristol is seeking a Software Technical Lead with hands-on Full Stack experience to join an Agile delivery team. The role combines technical leadership with coding, architecture and client engagement as you steer bespoke software solutions from requirements through deployment.

The ideal candidate will have senior software engineering experience across Java, AWS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React, with strong cloud and CI/CD know-how.

We’re working with a specialist technology consultancy delivering bespoke software solutions across complex Central Government projects.

They’re looking for an experienced Software Technical Lead with strong hands‑on Full Stack development experience to join an Agile delivery team, providing technical direction while remaining close to the code.

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead looking to take on greater responsibility across technical leadership, architecture and client engagement, without stepping away from hands‑on engineering.

THE ROLE

As a Software Technical Lead, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering bespoke software solutions, working closely with both engineering teams and customers.

You’ll be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to implementation, deployment and ongoing support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing technical leadership and direction across software development teams
• Designing, developing and testing bespoke software solutions
• Remaining hands‑on with Full Stack development
• Contributing to solution architecture and technical design
• Working with open‑source libraries, frameworks and components
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab
• Deploying applications across AWS, Azure and private cloud environments
• Working throughout the full software development lifecycle
• Leading technical discussions with customers and stakeholders
• Translating customer requirements into clear technical solutions
• Supporting and mentoring engineers within Agile delivery teams

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You should have strong commercial experience across a combination of:

You'll also need the ability to engage confidently with customers, provide technical direction and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Previous consultancy experience would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Experience working on Central Government or other security-sensitive projects would also be advantageous.
