Oxford Instruments is seeking a Software Team Leader (C#) in High Wycombe to lead a small team while remaining hands-on. The role blends people management with development work to deliver high‑quality software powering materials analysis and scientific discovery.
You’ll guide design, architecture, and delivery, mentoring developers and maintaining a healthy, high‑performing engineering culture. Hybrid work supports collaboration and coding activity.
Location: High Wycombe, GB GB
Job Function: Technical
Business Unit: NanoAnalysis
At Oxford Instruments, Materials Analysis we are looking for a Senior Software Developer/Software Team Leader, with experience in C#. In this role, you will also be responsible for a small team of developers. At Oxford Instruments, Materials Analysis, you’ll be creating the high‑performance software that powers groundbreaking scientific discovery—tools used by researchers tackling challenges in semiconductors, renewable energy, metallurgy, forensics and more. Your code directly enables scientists to visualise and understand materials at the nanometre scale, helping them map elements, identify phases, characterise complex particles and accelerate innovations that shape the future of technology.
This is a genuinely hybrid role, with an approximate 50/50 split between people management and hands‑on development. We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer who is not only technically strong, but who also truly enjoys the people management side of leadership. Alongside coaching and mentoring, this role involves the full spectrum of line management responsibilities, including performance management, handling absence and return‑to‑work processes, and supporting the overall wellbeing and accountability of the team. You’ll play a key role in building a positive, high‑performing engineering culture, while still remaining close to the code through design, architecture, and delivery. This position is ideal for someone who sees people management as a core part of their role and impact, not just an add‑on.
