Job summary

Roke is seeking a Software Team Lead to drive technical direction and delivery across AI, Cyber, Cloud, and Data projects. You will mentor and guide scrum teams, decompose complex work, and ensure secure, reusable code.

The role blends hands-on engineering with leadership in a hybrid Woking setting. You will shape mission-critical software on modern stacks, collaborate with researchers, and navigate multiple platforms while maintaining rigorous standards and velocity.

Qualifications

• Programming languages include Python, Java, Golang, JavaScript or C++.
• Front end frameworks: React, VueJS, or AngularJS.
• Web solutions: Node.js, Nginx, Caddy or Uvicorn.
• Relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra.
• Containerisation: Docker, Podman and K8s.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Scripting languages: Bash or PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction within the scrum team.
• Liaise with the engineering lead.
• Decompose user requests into epics and stories.
• Write clean, secure code with a test-driven approach.
• Create reusable code and document all work.
• Translate designs into detailed technical designs.
• Produce detailed designs and required docs.
• Work with emerging technologies and patterns.
• Integrate API/UI components with data stores and APIs.
• Maintain relational and NoSQL data stores and REST APIs.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies and planning.
• Explain API features and their impact to the team.
• Collaborate with researchers and represent user needs.
