Job description

Job Title: Software Operations Manager

Organisation: Central Government Organisation

Location: London, Manchester, or Bristol (Hybrid working: 1 day per week in the office)

Allen Lane is supporting a prestigious Central Government organisation in their search for an interim Software Operations Manager for a 6-month contract at up to £500 per day (Inside IR35).

Applicants with SC clearance are preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding knowledge and experience in:

  • Business management (procurement, planning, reporting), especially managing software tools and digital projects in large/complex organisations.
  • Collaboration and operational delivery, including requirements gathering, problem solving, prioritising requests from multiple teams (including senior management), and managing critical suppliers through accurate Management Information and performance management.
  • Managing multiple initiatives concurrently and in a timely manner, including through others.
  • Driving effective decision-making using accurate and concise data.
  • Change and project management, including agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of public sector and government processes.
  • Administration, IT skills (especially Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel), and support skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Constructively challenging colleagues.
