Job summary

MICHAEL MCLEAN LTD is seeking a Software Implementation Specialist to lead technical discovery and support for complex customer solutions. The role involves troubleshooting APIs, databases and integrations, and collaborating with customer IT teams to resolve challenges.

The position offers hybrid work with 2 days onsite and 3 days from home, a competitive salary of £50-60K, and immediate start. Bedford-based role with accessible commuting options.

Qualifications

• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with REST APIs, SOAP/web services, JSON/XML and authentication.
• Knowledge of application servers, Windows services, logs and hosted environments.
• Experience with system integrations, data mapping and troubleshooting.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Background in enterprise software, application support (L2/L3) or technical consultancy.

Location Bedford - driving is much easier than public transport but not a prerequisite for the role.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading technical discovery and supporting complex customer solutions.
• Investigating challenging application issues, identifying root causes and resolving problems wherever possible.
• Troubleshooting APIs, web services, integrations, databases, application logs and customer environments.
• Supporting technical implementations, system upgrades, migrations and deployments.
• Working directly with customer IT teams and integration partners to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges.
• Providing Development teams with clear, evidence-based investigations when software defects need to be escalated.
• Building repeatable troubleshooting processes and sharing technical knowledge across the business.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll have strong technical investigation and root-cause analysis skills, alongside experience in areas such as:

• Relational databases and SQL.
• REST APIs, SOAP/web services, JSON/XML and authentication.
• Application servers, Windows services, logs and hosted environments.
• System integrations, data mapping and troubleshooting.
• Communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in enterprise software, application support (L2/L3), technical consultancy, solutions engineering or technical implementation would be particularly relevant.
• Experience with SQL Server, DB2, ERP systems, SaaS or on-premise enterprise applications would be advantageous.
