Job summary

BAE Systems, a leading defence and security organisation, seeks a Software Engineer to support the Shared Infrastructure Common Console solution. Based in New Malden with occasional visits to Portsmouth, the role involves software engineering, systems investigations, development, integration and formal testing across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• Formal testing and technical investigations experience.

Responsibilities

• Undertake SI-related systems engineering activities in line with processes and standards.
• Investigate complex technical issues and prepare reports with recommendations.
• Develop designs, updates, fixes and configurations for the SI Console.
• Support the selection and integration of COTS products to meet requirements.
• Participate in requirements capture, integration and testing on local rigs.
• Contribute to acceptance testing and resolution of software and system issues.
• Collaborate within large, multi-project, distributed teams.
• Follow health, safety and environmental procedures and report hazards.

Our client BAE Systems, a leading organisation in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Shared Infrastructure (SI) Common Console solution. Based in New Malden with occasional visits to Portsmouth, the role will involve software engineering, systems investigations, development, integration and formal testing across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake SI-related systems engineering activities in line with technical processes, quality requirements and relevant standards
• Investigate complex technical issues, evaluate potential solutions and prepare reports with recommendations
• Develop designs, functionality updates, fixes and system configurations for the SI Console solution
• Support the selection and integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products to meet systems requirements
• Participate in requirements capture, implementation, integration and testing on local target rigs
• Contribute to acceptance testing, operational investigations and the resolution of complex software and systems issues
• Work collaboratively within large, complex, multi-project and distributed teams
• Follow all relevant health, safety and environmental procedures and report hazards or incidents appropriately

Job Requirements:

• Strong software engineering background with experience in formal testing and technical investigations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues
• Significant experience using VMware, ideally including VMware Horizon
• Understanding of thin client technology, Blast, vGPU technology, VNC, RDP and RemoteApp environments
• Experience with Group Policy, Active Directory and PowerShell scripting or automation
• Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, multi-project engineering environment
• Good written, verbal and presentation skills, with confidence communicating in formal and informal settings
• Degree-qualified in a technology, engineering, science or related discipline, or equivalent technical experience

Contract Details:

• Six-month contract opportunity
• Based in New Malden with occasional visits to Broad Oak
• On-site presence required three to four days per week
• 37 hours per week
