Job summary

Northumbria University’s Digital, Technology & Transformation team is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop and integrate software on the Microsoft stack, including .NET and Azure. You’ll work with product teams and suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet user needs and align with architectural standards.

You’ll contribute to data platforms, REST API integrations and secure data sharing, while growing your skills under supervision in a collaborative, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or relevant professional experience.
• Experience with REST APIs and integration patterns.
• Strong .NET and Azure knowledge.
• Experience with front-end tech and cross-browser development.
• Familiarity with information security considerations.
• Ability to present to stakeholders and work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing software applications, solutions and data platforms that are high quality, robust, secure and scalable.
• Developing and releasing software integrations that securely provide data.
• Presenting proof of concept variants to prospective customers and using rapid prototyping to validate stakeholder requirements.
• Delivering user stories within a multidisciplinary team, developing your technical skills under supervision.
• Working with DTT Team colleagues to ensure solutions are aligned to the DTT Master Plan and architectural standards.
• Collaborating with DevOps specialists so that solutions can be deployed and operated in a repeatable and predictable way.
• Keeping documentation of solutions, such as data architecture, models, configurations and setup, relevant and up to date.
