Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown group is seeking talented Software Engineers to join one of our Investment Growth product engineering teams. You will build market-leading digital client journeys, focusing on cloud-native solutions with TypeScript, React and Node, managed via Terraform and other IaC tools.

You will contribute to secure, tested code, automated testing, and documentation, while coaching peers and advocating for continuous improvement in quality, security, performance and CI/CD within an Agile

Qualifications

• Experience with TypeScript, React and Node for building cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with unit, integration and E2E testing tools (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Knowledge of CI/CD and trunk-based development practices.

What You'll Be Doing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital client journeys.
• Develop AWS Cloud-native applications with TypeScript and React and manage them using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Write high-quality, secure, tested and performant code.
• Create and maintain automated tests for new changes.
• Document all solutions according to team standards.
• Provide engineering support and maintenance for existing applications.
• Continuously develop your own technical and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and techniques.
• Provide coaching & mentoring to peers.
• Advocate for continuous improvement in ways of working, quality, security, performance, and CI/CD processes.
• Cultivate strong working relationships within the squad and across the organisation.
• Engage in working groups and communities of practice to support the development team.
• Professional experience with TypeScript, React and Node, and with the use of IaC tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with product development for cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and related technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker and serverless).
• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Backstop, Playwright).
• Experience with CI/CD and Trunk Based Development.
• Experience with observability tools and practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Understanding of Microservices & principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, testing and stubbing/mocking.
• Understanding of Event Driven Architecture.
• Understanding of databases technologies and how to work with them, including document, relational and data platform tools.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
• Awareness of website performance implications, best practices and other non-functional requirements.
• Proficient in collaborative code reviews, technical documentation, and advocating for excellent development practices to optimize for rapid and continuous delivery of client value within an Agile framework.
